1. What you will learn

Choose a method from the question's conditions before opening feedback. Work without notes first, then explain which restriction or evidence determined your answer. These are original instructional questions, not an adaptive test or a predictor of an official score.

2. Practice

Read the shared passage and answer every question. Each question is graded separately; select-all questions require the exact set.

Biologists studying a coastal plant found that individuals near roads flowered earlier than those in remote sites. One explanation was adaptation to heat from paved surfaces. To test whether the difference persisted outside those environments, researchers grew seeds from both populations in the same greenhouse. The flowering difference largely disappeared. This result favors an immediate environmental response over an inherited difference, but it does not identify pavement heat as the cause. Roadside plants also experience different light, soil chemistry, and water availability. Separating those influences would require further comparisons.

A museum once arranged household objects by material: ceramics in one room, metalwork in another. Its new exhibition instead groups objects around activities such as cooking and repairing clothing. Curators argue that this organization makes relationships among objects visible. A visitor can now see a metal needle beside the cloth it might repair. Critics reply that grouping by use can obscure changes in manufacturing technique. Neither arrangement is neutral: each highlights some relationships and suppresses others. Evaluating the new exhibition therefore requires asking which historical questions it enables visitors to pursue, rather than whether it eliminates interpretation.
