Writing four and five

Trace models of 4 and 5 using their numbered strokes and connect the marks to quantities.

Paper packet. Every task here also exists on screen, where it is checked automatically; answers written on paper are not assessed by Nydus. When you are back at a device, enter your answers there.

1. What you will learn

Today we follow two-stroke models for 4 and 5, lifting only to reach a new starting point.

2. Movement words

TermWhat it means
LiftStop marking before moving to a new start.
CrossbarA line crossing another part.

3. A lift can belong to the plan

Some numeral models need more than one stroke. A stroke is a connected path before you lift. For this 4, follow the slant down and left, then the crossbar. Lift to the second start and draw down. For this 5, draw down and around the belly first. Lift and add its top line. Follow the model's numbered starts in order.

The tracing screen supplies the exact models and two numbered starts for each.

4. Check parts, not pressure

A lift should leave no mark between paths. An extra connecting line changes the shape. Check that each planned part is present and no wandering line was added. Try larger movements on paper if the screen feels difficult. Other handwriting styles may form these numerals differently; this practice follows the shown models and does not certify independent writing.

5. Parcel labels

Count four or five toy parts. Label them on paper and compare with a model. An adult records tracing, copying or independent writing, then gives feedback before a fresh attempt.

6. Plan four

  1. Follow the first part of 4.

    Slant, then crossbar.

    These connect without lifting.

  2. Move to the second start.

    Lift, then draw down.

The new stroke needs no connecting mark.

7. Plan five

  1. Follow the body of 5.

    Down and around.

    These parts stay connected.

  2. Your turn: work this step out. Its working is at the end of the packet.

    Complete the top.

8. Guided practice

Which numeral has a straight top, a short downward part and a curved lower belly?

9. Guided practice

Trace 4 with two strokes. Follow the slant and crossbar, lift, then follow the separate down line.

11. Somewhere new

A pretend parcel contains these toy wheels: ○ ○ ○ ○. Type the numeral for its quantity label. This is not a handwriting test.

12. Lesson test

Lesson test: one question per skill, one attempt each, no hints. Your answers are checked when you submit.

13. Test question

Number-meaning check: a card has these star stamps, ★ ★ ★ ★ ★. Type the amount for its label.

14. What you can do now

Show why moving to a second numbered start requires lifting rather than drawing an extra connecting line.

7. Plan five, step 2

Lift, then draw across.
