  1. 1

Any age · All ages · about 4 hours

    Recall practice

Getting material out of memory before looking again: free and delayed trials, reading a forgetting curve, using and making cues, what a miss is for, rebuilding an order, and a ladder of growing gaps. Practice, never a measure of anybody's memory.

  3. 3

    Study strategies

    Unit

Retrieval practice and spacing as a schedule you can keep, interleaving, elaboration and self-explanation, worked examples with problems, diagrams paired with words, judging what you actually know, better versions of common habits, and a review plan for a whole course.

    Take first: Recall practice

  4. 4

Everyday memory · All ages · about 3.5 hours

    Everyday memory

Plain strategies for ordinary days: capture jobs at once, give things a home, learn with cues and spaced returns, keep a notebook, say back what you hear and link new names to pictures. Optional practice alongside your own care, not treatment.

  5. 5

Attention and fatigue · All ages · about 3.5 hours

    Attention and pacing

Optional home practice, not treatment or a test: clear what competes for attention, do one task at a time, search and check in a fixed order, get back after a lapse, and plan breaks before fatigue rather than after it.

  6. 6

External aids · All ages · about 3 hours

    External aids

Optional home practice alongside care, not treatment or a test: match an aid to a task, write complete calendar entries and checklists, set reminders that work, give things a home, review your aids weekly, and recover when one misses. No particular app or device is needed.

Returning to routine · All ages · about 4 hours

    Returning to routine

Rebuilding an ordinary week: routines on a card, notes and words that still work later, a paced week, checklists for bigger jobs, and a way back when a day breaks. Optional practice alongside your own care, not treatment.
