Degeneracy, white dwarfs and neutron stars

The exclusion principle gives degeneracy pressure, independent of temperature, which holds up Earth-sized white dwarfs with R ~ M^(-1/3) up to the Chandrasekhar mass of about 1.44 suns; beyond it, neutron degeneracy holds up 12-km neutron stars.
